Copies of the LCAP and Budget may be inspected at the District Office (during normal business hours) or on the district website 72 hours prior to the hearing. All interested parties are encouraged to attend this meeting. The final LCAP and Budget adoption will then take place at a Special Meeting scheduled on June 30, 2023.

The LCAP is a tool for local educational agencies to set goals, plan actions, and leverage resources to meet those goals to improve student outcomes. The Parent Advisory Committee serves as a way for District parents to review, comment and provide parent perspective on the LCAP. There will be a Parent Advisory Committee Meeting on Tuesday June 6th from 4:00-5:00p.m. on the SFHS campus in the Wellness Center. This is a hybrid meeting feel free to attend in person or via Zoom. Every two years parents, students, and staff are asked to complete an online CA Healthy Kids Survey sponsored by the California Department of Education. The purpose of this survey is to obtain staff perceptions of student behavior and attitudes, school programs and policies, and the overall school climate as they relate to student well-being and learning. Your participation is voluntary yet very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, improve student achievement, and reduce health risks that stand as barriers to learning.

Our Classified employees contribute immeasurably to the health, safety, and well-being of SHJUSD students. Through their dedication and professionalism in carrying out their many and varied job responsibilities our schools can operate and flourish. Thank you for all you do!

The 9th and 11th grade students are being asked to be a part of our school’s California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE). This is a very important survey that will help promote better health and well-being among our youth, improve the school learning environment and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. Your child does not have to take the survey. If you do not want your child to complete the survey, you must notify your school.

Why:
Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) accreditation is a process schools use to monitor student learning and set school improvement goals. ACS WASC accreditation is an ongoing cycle of quality. Schools assess their program and the impact on student learning with respect to the ACS WASC criteria and other accreditation factors. As you know, the storms, power outages, and unsafe road conditions caused schools to close unexpectedly for many days this winter. As a result of these missed days, the school district is required to use our “emergency closure days” which are on your 2022-23 school calendar as June 11, 12, and 13. This last week of school will be short days, with release times the same as
short Wednesdays.

South Fork High School acknowledges that there were some students with very poor behavior during a special theatrical performance Monday, April 3rd . Staff actively worked to stop it. The students that displayed the inappropriate behavior will be disciplined.
South Fork High stresses that this behavior is not acceptable and that this group of students do not represent our student body as a whole. We are actively working to make the climate at South Fork High a more positive and welcoming place. To do this, it will take everyone to work together: school, families, and community. Let's create a culture of kindness, tolerance, and belonging.
